Ipplepenn Barn
Ipplepen barn is a large traditional oak framed barn in an idyllic rural setting. For this project we took the planning drawings and together with the client developed a storey and a half oak frame design incorporating many naturally curved members. The barn features a mezzanine floor over half of the footprint with the other half remaining fully vaulted from the ground floor with a lovely sling brace truss with large curved braces as the central feature frame.

The barn was designed to be a workshop and storage for the clients classic cars, but the spec was developed and future proofed so that it could easily be converted into a home if planning permission were granted further down the line.
We undertook the frame design and fabrication, detailed build up specifications and all site carpentry whilst overseeing the other trades to provide a project management service. We manufactured all of the bespoke joinery and installed this along with the direct glazing system. The barn is finished off in waney edged larch cladding and a stunning cedar shingle roof with recessed velux windows.
